Journey reference: BA-4D-EYASI
Lake Manyara and the Rift Valley landscape in northern Tanzania · Photo credit ↗Spend two nights beside Lake Eyasi, with hosted Datoga and Hadzabe encounters arranged through local guides. There is time to listen, walk and rest; this is a cultural journey rather than a park safari.
Ideal for travellers interested in people and landscapes. No national-park game drive, Serengeti visit or night safari is included.
Subject to community availability, lodge operation and rural-road access. Drier conditions usually simplify travel and walking.
One Arusha night and two Lake Eyasi nights. Days 2 and 4 involve longer road transfers. The Datoga visit is planned for Day 2, with Day 3 afternoon as a flexible alternative; the Hadzabe encounter is planned for Day 3 morning.
Private road safari with locally guided activities where listed
Arrival and the final travel day are included in the trip length. Driving times are planning guides; weather, roads and formalities can change the day.
Day 1
Meet your Boker Adventures representative at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transfer to your hotel. Rest after your flight; no safari or cultural visit is scheduled today. Your briefing covers the route, daily timings, meals, medical or mobility needs, wildlife etiquette and any booked extras. Late arrivals receive their briefing the following morning.
Planning time: JRO to hotel: approximately 1-1.5 hours, depending on traffic and hotel location. Late dinner must be arranged in advance.
Day 2
After breakfast, drive from Arusha towards Lake Eyasi with comfort stops and lunch. Reach your lodge and rest before an arranged afternoon visit with willing Datoga hosts, if their availability and arrival time permit. A local liaison introduces the hosts and the conversation. If the journey runs late, the visit can move to tomorrow afternoon by agreement.
Planning time: Allow approximately 4.5-6 hours from Arusha, plus local driving to the visit. Roads can be rough. This is primarily a transfer day; no park game drive is included.
Day 3
Start early for an arranged encounter with Hadzabe hosts, also called Hadza, accompanied by a local liaison. A walk may explore tracking, plants and gathering knowledge according to the hosts' wishes. Hunting or a successful hunt is never promised or required. Return for lunch and a relaxed afternoon at the lodge. Ask permission before taking photographs and respect a refusal.
Planning time: Meeting locations can change. Agree the walking distance and confirm local driving time with the liaison. Remain at the same lodge tonight; there is no onward transfer after the visit.
Day 4
After breakfast, drive to Arusha with comfort stops and lunch. Finish at an Arusha hotel; that night's room and any onward JRO transfer are extra. An additional Arusha night before an international departure is recommended. Boker must review any proposed same-day onward travel before you book it.
Planning time: Allow approximately 4.5-6 hours to Arusha, and longer if tracks are poor. JRO is a further 1-1.5 hours away, plus airline check-in time. There is no cultural visit or game drive today.
